13 - 19 May "The One With Four Projects Due in One Week"

  •  I existed in a state of constant work but! I did get everything done by Thursday!
  • On Monday I got the email about prac placement (and messaged Liesje so we could open the email together-- guess who is going to Rhenish primary!)
  • I messaged back and forth with Sarah Steele a little which was lovely!
  • Liesje and I made plans to have supper together on the Friday which got me through the week in a big way
  • We had soup and played Spot it. Liesje landed up on the floor trying to fix my bike. We made mug cakes (which nearly jumped out of the cup because of the bicarb we decided to add even though Lieneke said not to)
  • I did washing over the weekend (it piles up VERY quickly-- laundry is as a result of the fall according to a meme I read. We never would be wearing clothes if it were not for eating the apple)
  • Earlier in the day on the Friday before a birthday party, Dana came to finish reading Anne to me while I did the dishes. Tao walked in on the one and only soppy book in the whole book. Poor Tao! Our new plan is to start "The Little Princess", if Dana had had it her way we would have begun immediately. Dana has done more work on her own book which I read some more of.

Moving to Villiersdorp-- My first week

Wednesday 10th January 21:10 I seem to be rather bad at this "blogging" thing, but since this is my first year teaching, I figure it is worth another shot to try an document an important year.  I moved out to Villiersdorp on Monday morning (as I write this it is Wednesday evening), and had Mom and Dad to help me unpack everything. There was actually rather little to unpack since the garden flat is furnished. Mom & Dad were more necessary for the driving bit, which I would not manage on my own just yet. Just driving the road to school is terrifying. I have never had to travel faster than 55km/h, so to suddenly have to travel in a 100 zone is quite a challenge! I did manage to drive it alone just fine this morning when I went to unpack my classroom though, so I suspect I will get used to it fairly quickly.  Other than setting up my classroom, I have not been up to too much. Week 6: 18 - 24 March

This week was mostly an academic one with little to no social happenings. That makes it a relatively uninteresting week I am afraid.  Much of the first half of the week was spent preparing for the Afrikaans test on Wednesday morning. The test itself was relatively short in comparison to the amount of content I had to study. I felt confident that I was able to earn enough marks to pass, but beyond that I have not a clue how it went. I don't really want to think to much about it beyond the fact that it is one more thing off my list.  Other academic happenings include furiously rewriting my entire part of the Teaching Assessment Plan (TAP) because Dr Rock was not quite satisfied with it. In hindsight I entirely agree with her that the second version is more interesting, but it was quite a lot of work and I found myself nearly in tears on Wednesday evening. All the flight things and Day 1

  Hello everyone, By popular request, I will be attempting to keep you all relatively up to date with my travels and adventures in Israel. Please bear with me because I am new to this and also have an assignment I need to work on while I am away (hooray). The purpose of this blog is mostly to experiment with something new, so your suggestions are very welcome 😊 So without further ado- Here is the summary of the journey so far! First stop: Istanbul Turkey (The airport terminal 1 April) I have very little to say about the airport other than to say that it is huge! Because the stop was so long, I also ended up working on my project at 5am. While I realise for some of you students this is a norm, I cannot say I enjoyed the experience.  I have attached a photo from the flight over.
